Inside terminal 4 at Stockholm Arlanda Airport
We arrived at Stockholm Arlanda Airport at 8:00pm, found our departure terminal and checked in. We are flying SAS, and they have a self check in which includes luggage tags for your checked luggage. Once you have your tickets printed and your checked luggage tagged, you take it to the counter and give it to the SAS employee who just puts it on a belt, and then they asked for Lena’s finger print. They have a print reader to verify your ID, or the person that purchased the tickets anyway because they never asked for mine.
We now had about 3+ hours to kill before our 11:45 departure time. We went through security, then walked around the terminal a while deciding on where to get a bite to eat. After we ate, we sat by the large Christmas tree set up at the end of the terminal, and then Lena pretended to be a kid and played in a kids play area. The time went by quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to board our plane. After boarding, we were delayed because one person that checked in, had luggage on the plane, had not boarded. This meant they had to go through the entire luggage in the hold and find his bag to remove it before we could take off. It took them about a half hour to locate our missing passenger’s bag, and then they had to de-ice the plane covering the windows in a lovely pink liquid.
Finally we were off and headed to Kiruna. The flight time is only 1-1/2, so we should arrive around 1:45pm. Ice Hotel, here we come!!
