Sunrise in Gävle, Sweden...10:30am

We slept very well last night, and woke up around 8:00am. Still dark out, but it's starting to get light and the sun might show itself today! After breakfast, we walked to moms, showered and made plans for the day. She wanted to go to the local library, as well as see if there were any venders set up in the town square.

It’s now about 10:00am and the clouds are breaking up, but not sure for how long. We first made our way to the library where we saw the remains for the large Christmas goat that is set up in town. I said remains because it was set on fire the night before, and apparently this is the second time this season. Hopefully they will rebuild it again before we leave so I can get a picture of it, but I doubt it will be.

One thing I have noticed since being here, people still continue to ride their bikes.

Some people still ride their bikes no matter what the weather.
Not as much as I’ve seen during the spring & summer of course, but there are still those that ride no matter what the weather.

After the library, we walked over to where the Christmas market should be, but there were only a few venders selling smoked or cured Salmon & Herring, and one selling some clothing of some kind. There were also a couple hotdog venders and one selling Nystekt Strömming, so we got lunch here. We walked with mom back to her apartment, and then Lena and I took a little walk around town for a couple hours near the river we walked last summer when we were here. It was very beautiful with all the snow covering everything, and it really did feel a lot like Christmas!

It was almost 2:30pm and starting to get dark. We made our way back to the Apartment and relaxed in front of the TV, and then had left over’s from the last two nights for dinner.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, the day all of Sweden celebrates Christmas and waits for Jul Tomten to arrive!
