Every one checking in.
When we arrived at the airport in Kiruna, we found out our flight was delayed 5 hours because of mechanical problems in London! Yep, I said five hours!! It seems the plane that was suppose to be here to pick us up, broke down in London. So they sent a plane from Stockholm to London with the needed parts to make the repairs, and to pick up the passengers stuck there. Then the plane that delivered these parts flew from London back to Stockholm, unloaded the London passengers and luggage then, loaded up with new passengers and luggage coming to Kiruna.
Now being stuck in a large airport for that amount of time might be ok, but this airport is tiny, and has one gift shop that was not open, and one restaurant. Luckily the restaurant had some pretty good food available and served beer, wine and other adult drinks :) The gift shop did open for about 30-45 minutes, but I guess the girl only comes in to open when there is a flight coming through.
The twins! :D
SAS, the airline we are flying with, gave each passenger a voucher for 100sek for our trouble, but we had to use it at this airport. Basically it was dinner money. Lena and I held off eating for a couple hours, and then got a bit to eat and a couple drinks. Good thing we had a big, late lunch! The time actually went by faster than I thought it would thanks to a pair of young twin Swedish boys named Ville & Ludde, and a few other small children playing and making the best of it. All the kids were very well behaved, even the twin boys who were having a great time running around and playing with all the other kids. They were very funny to watch, as were some of the other kids who were all very cute. One thing about boys that age, if you laugh at something they do, and they notice you laughing at them, they do it again, usually to a greater extreme!! Thanks boys, you made our time go by much quicker and more enjoyable!
Finally, just after 8:00pm, our plane arrived. After the passengers & luggage were all off, we boarded and around 8:45pm, were headed to Stockholm! The flight was quiet, even with all the young children on board. Guess all the running around they did wore them out and they fell asleep quickly. Next stop, Stockholm and hopefully a train to Gävle.
