First time taking a train in Lima, yay!

take me with you!!!!
Definitely taking the train in Lima is not common at all. There's just 1 train station and the train for people departures just once a month... Since train service improved, I was waiting for the perfect opportunity to take the ride. Taking the train is great if you are in Lima and don't have much time to travel somewhere further away. Anyway, I got the tickets 2 weeks in advance and was just waiting for the day to leave.

There was supposed to be a taxi driving us to the train station, which is in downtown Lima, really early - about 6:30am, but it never showed up, grrrr. That taxi company is not part of my list anymore :P Before leaving I fed Gunther, wanted to spend with him as much as possible, but couldn't stay for too long.

Well, we still had time so we arrived on time to the station. It was early and there was no much traffic. The train station is just behind the Government Palace, sweet!

It was 6:30 am when we arrived there, just the way they recommended, hahaha. There were quite a lot people outside, but no lines... Well, it was still too early. Perfect, some time to take some pics. Everything looked so quiet, not the usual busy downtown at all. The station building is an old one, which has been restored recently and looks very pretty now. About 15min later, people started to go inside. Just having a backpack was so comfortable, yeah!

We were taking the "touristic wagon". Yes, it was more expensive, but I didn't mind paying extra for comfortable seats for such a long trip. Usually the trip to Huancayo lasts 6 1/2 hours, but this trip is by bus.
Minigunther was ready for the ride
By train it'd last 13 hours!!! Then I saw the touristic wagon, they had a different color, decoration and even a name in "quechua" (the language of the incas). Sweet! This wagon was really comfortable and was mostly about tourists, both Peruvian and foreigners.

As scheduled we left at 7am. There was even a minizoo with lamas at the station, cool! It was fun going backwards, hahaha. The first part of the journey would be like that. Our final destination was Huancayo which is East of Lima. We'd start going to the East and then up to the mountains. But first of all we should leave the city. Wow! Lima is so big pffffff. It has grown so much lately. Oh well, it was nice to see this part of town which is out of my "bubble", that's how I call the parts of the city I don't usually hang out in. Nevermind, it was interesting to see them, but not that much to do it two times. We'd drive to Huancayo by train, but we'd return by bus. It'd be not only cheaper, but also would last 5 hours less, yay!
