Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia

This meet-up actually was arranged not here on TravBuddy, even though that is how I first "met" Louise, but on Face Book. She had posted a message on her Face Book page that she had some air miles to use and asked where everyone thought she should go. If I remember right, she listed three places, one of which was Washington DC. I immediately responded to this post that we have a spare bedroom and live only 30 minutes from Washington DC, so come here! I think it only took a few minutes for Louise to respond to this offer, and that's how this all started.

The day of her arrival was now here, and with Dulles airport being about 60+ miles away in Virginia, I needed to give myself about an hour and a half to get there. With her flight scheduled to arrive at 3:10pm, I got to the airport at 3:00pm. But, the flight was delayed about 15 minutes and it also took her a bit to get through customs. I was waiting eagerly with a sign I made up with her name and the TravBuddy logo on it; just like all the limo drivers have when they are picking up someone they do not know. I knew I would recognize her, but I just wanted to be sure she saw me. Finally after a couple of hours, I saw her come though and we greeted each other with a hug and a smile; and she had a little gift for us which we would enjoy later during the weekend! :)

Traffic getting home was a mess! It was still rush hour here in the Washington DC area, so traffic was backed up everywhere! We had a very nice chat during our two hour drive back to Annapolis, Maryland where Lena was home waiting. I gave Lena a call to let her know we were on the way, and she could start part of the dinner I had planned. Once home, I started the grill and prepared the venison I had marinating for the last three days. Of course, being the big hockey fans that we are, we made Louise watch the Washington Capitals game on TV during dinner. After it was obvious we were going to win this game, we turned off the game, drank the rest of the wine, and enjoyed a very nice evening talking and planning tomorrows adventure to Washington DC. The weather when she arrived was sunny and 60f, but tomorrow was forecast to be cloudy and only a high of 50f, but at least no rain or snow...yet!
