Another cool thing at Detroit airport is that it is designed to give the airplanes a very prominent place. Coming up this escalator to find a huge window with a Boing 737 right there is very nice.
And we're off! After a very stressful morning trying to pack, Dad and I finally got on the plan for AFRICA!!!! Well, let me explain that better because its not that simple. First we flew from Rochester to Detroit. Next its off to Amsterdam. We'll stya there overnight, and then fly to Nairobi. And then, finally, we will fly to Kilmanjaro International Airport where we will begin our safari. So cool, I still can't believe it.

So far the trip has been pretty uneventful. As always, I love the Detroit Airport. Never in my life would I have imagined that I would feel a sense of pride and ownership about an airport, let alone one in Michigan of all places, but I do. I think it is beautiful in there... as far as airports go, anyway. And I was excited to show dad the ginat light tunnel. ME and dad quickly discovered why it is difficult for the rest of the family to travel with us... we take pictures non-stop. Within 5 minutes of being in the airport, we had already taken several pictures of the light tunnel, a giant jet (which involved going up and down an escalator 3 times to get the perfect view.) and a really sweet fountain that we stumbled across. We got some good shots, then ti was time to head to the gate because we didn't have much of a layover. And that leaves me here, waiting to board and very excited. So I guess that's all for now... but don't worry, many more updates coming soon :)
