TAMPA, ORLANDO, MIAMI, WHO COULD ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE

Complete that assignment, fill in for the boss, why is that project taking so long, stop that assignment and work on this one, no now this is the priority, blah, blah, blah, blah...... Work was getting so stressful and tiring, but that was just part of the stress.  I had to think of a solution quick before I exploded. Ahhhhh a few weeks in Florida visiting family and partying. Where my only concern would be, do I want my eggs scrambled or over easy? Do I want my Jack Daniels with Coke or Gingerale? Which designer shirt makes me look better? lol. So I got on-line and bought tix to Tampa.
I sat by the computer contemplating when to come back.... Thats when it hit me. Why do a week and come back to the exact things you want to escape? So I picked a return date almost three weeks later....lol. I was filling in for the boss that week, so I considered my confrimation of the tix as notice to management (me)...lol. Needless to say my decision did not meet with positive results. My boss nearly flipped her wig when she found out, but what could she do, I had the time and I was already at the airport.

My first stop was my brothers house in Tampa. He is 11 years older than me, so growing up we did not have a close relationship due to the age difference. He always felt he needed to be the father who wasnt there, instead of a brother. While he was in his teens I was only a kid, so we couldnt relate to each other either.

However, as the years passed and I grew up, he started seeing me as an equal. I assume it was the distance between NY and FL and the fact that I grew up to be taller and bigger than him....lol. We had never had time to try and relate to each other because he was always off doing his thing and I doing mine. This was a perfect opportunity to get to know each other, especially after his medical scare. I set up shop at his house and did nothing most of the day but sit around and chill with him. One thing he admired about me is my ability to live life to the fullest, so I decided to show him that he could do it too... I scheduled partying sessions and dragged him and his wife with me. So the agenda was pretty much party your ass off and recoup during the day, but always have a drink in hand...lol.

Im sure I wore them out quick, because as much as they complain about the sedimentary lifestyle of the outskirts of Tampa, they are not used to the fast pace of NY anymore.
My 22 yr old Cuz and college roommate
I decided to give them a break and head over to Orlando to visit my old college buddy and my cousin and his family. My cousin owns a NY style Deli in O-town called Moms Deli. He opened it recently so he lives, eats, and breathes the business right now. I spent some time with him at the store and had one of his sandwiches, THE BADABING. Good stuff. If your around Orlando and want a NY fix I would definitely recommend MOMS DELI. However, I was on a  mission. I must party in Orlando to see if it is better than Tampa. My cousin has a son who is 22 years old and I have showed him the ways of the force, so whenever we hook up its business as usual. We met up with my college friend and went bar hopping in downtown orlando. The drinks flowed, the music thumped, and the Yankees were winning on TV.
Who could ask for anything more....? We didnt get home until 4 AM and since they wanted me to feel right at home we went for PIZZA afterwards.

Hands down I can say that Orlando has a better party scene than Tampa, but we all know who the king of crunk is in Florida, MIAMI. That was the next stop on this state tour. I decided it would be best to unite my family from TAMPA and ORLANDO and take a road trip down south. We met up with a few other family and friends and partied our asses off. We hit the obligatory Mangos, Wet Willys, Clevelander, the Beach, and even had time to attend a 60th birthday party in Hialleah. Not to mention a eating fest at all the Cuban restaurants. Both camps had lived in FL for years and never been down to MIA.
Mangos
How crazy is that? So of course a NYer had to show them the ropes. They were highly impressed and vowed to visit more often. Needless to say we had a grand old time! We ended our road trip with an all you can eat Sunday brunch at the Rusty Pelican in Bicayne Bay. My cousin returned to Orlando and we returned to Tampa. I took in the beach and just enjoyed the company of my brother and his wife until I left back to NY. The trip totally re-energized me and I was ready to face a pair of screaming lungs at work. The verbal bash didnt faze me, but eventually the world got a little duller and things settled back into place.
