Early morning this morning.  9:30, strict, outside the dive school.  When all my class mates arrived, we headed up to the classroom for some more wonderful tutorials and videos.  I have befriended another guy in the class named Clint who although from london, lives in LA as he is in the film business.  We have decided to "buddy up" which in diving, is basically your partner in crime for safety and security. You are not allowed to dive by yourself, however certified you are, and thus I am pretty happy that we have found each other.  Other then being a cool guy, he seems pretty with it and as my life has the potential to be in his hands, knowing he is capable is the most important issue for me.  I had lunch with Clint, his Girlfriend (FROM FREAKIN PARIS), and another guy in my class name David.
Our first night in Koh Tao in the Ban's Classroom
Eventually Abby (the instructor) joined us as well.  After class it was time to grab some equipment and get in the water.  This resort has a massive pool which aside from being used for patrons of the resorts' hotel, is where all beginer divers dive for the first time.  They made us do a swim test which consited of 6 laps and 10 minutes of treading.  Easy.  After learing how to put on the equpiment, take it off, turn it on, turn it off, we got in the pool.  Every skill neccessary for live saving was taught to us.  Sharing regulators, ditching your suit, equalizing, asscents decents, clearing your goggles of water, hand signals, etc.  Eventually we were done and I made my way back to my hotel.  I grabbed Ant's laptop and tried to grab some wifi time before he came back from his night dive.

Eventually I went to Ban's restaurant to see if Abby would be there but alas she was not and due to extreme exhaustion, my serious lack of urge to make new friends at this point, and knowing my meet time tomorrow was 7:30, I went to bed.  I think I am going to like diving.  Even in the pool, the 3 metres of water above my head offered a new type of serenity.  I guess I should explain the title of this blog. In my swimming test, the heel of my foot was cut, although not badly, on the stupid patch of messed up tiles on the pool floor.    Also - this pool's water is the grossest tasting water I have EVER swam in.  I didn't try to drink it or anything but obviously water gets in your mouth, nose, etc and its freakin' sick.  I asked Abby why it was and she said there was a ton of chemicals in it as people are continouslly spitting in their goggles to clear them, spitting through the regulators, and just random stuff from learing to dive.  Understood.  She then decided to tell me that many and much nasty stuff happens in this pool after dark.  PUKE.  When is the sun going to set again? ;)
