We woke up at 3:30am and loaded our 70-pound suitcases in a shuttle and headed to the airport. Our first flight (American Airlines to Miami) was pretty nice but then we had a 6 hour layover. We then flew TACA to San Pedro Sula. The airport at San Pedro Sula was very different. It was so small and disorganized.
Once at the airport in La Ceiba, we discovered that there had been a miscommunication regarding our transportation. We waited in the small one-room airport for about an hour and a half. Very nice missionaries picked us up and drove us to our hotel, Hotel Candadien, in Sambo Creek! What a lovely place! Only $13.50 a night. It's nothing like an American hotel, but seems pretty high class considering the surroundings. Sambo Creek is a Garifuna village located about 15 minutes outside of La Ceiba. It has been a long day and we are exhausted! We are planning on getting a good night of sleep to prepare for a full day of adventure tomorrow!
