We found the Days Inn hotel in a coupon book we had picked up at Denny's. (See hotel review for how that worked out.)
We headed to the beach as fast as we could, or after making sure the darn safe worked. The beach is as nice as anywhere in Miami. Not many people out at the beginning of November, but the weather was gorgeous. Perfect beach weather. We enjoyed the water and the sun for a couple of hours.
Back at the hotel we got ready for a night on the town.
We stopped at Finnegan's Way Irish Pub on Ocean Drive for something to eat. By now we had walked from 43rd St. down to 14th and could really use the calories. haha Our mission after dinner was to find a authentic Mojito.
We walked to pretty much the end of Ocean Drive, past the colorful, awesome and always full gay bar, the Clevelander outdoor club and the numerous restaurants. Waiters stick menus in your face everywhere. But this time we were too full to think of food.
We did finally stop at one of the restaurants that offered 2 drinks for the price of one. We asked if they had Mojitos and sat down after they said they did.
We bought fought with our beverage and horrible lost. Neither one of us made it half way. We ended up getting to go cups and figured we'd drink the rest on the walk back to the hotel. But then we got out of our chairs and realized that our feet did not wanna walk the 2.5 miles back to our hotel.
Apparently a cabie figured this out too and stop right next to us and asked if we wanted a ride. This was one block from where we had had the Mojitos. So the to-go-cup ended up in the closest trash can and we were in the cab on our way to the hotel.
That was pretty much the end of the night. We sleep light that night, because it was a bit chilly and noisy from the AC, but god knows you can't turn off the AC in Florida. You'll sweat away before the night is out.
