Day five, Lazy Sunday

It started out a bit greyish today, but it soon cleared up.

Today is a day worthy of its name. The sun is out in full glory this morning. I feel it is going to be a lazy day at the pool :) Do you know the song "Easy like Sunday morning" by the Commodores (or by the band Faith No More, if you are younger than I am)? Well, it was that kind of day today. At the pool the same little rascal from my earlier coral adventure, the curly tailed lizard showed up. This time he was even more gracious and kind enough to pose for me, proudly showing its curly tail. Also proud to pose for me was Dave, my Liverpolitan friend.

Since this was such a beautiful day with the sun and all, I went to the beach too. Jacomien was doing fine by the pool, but I always get restless after a while. So, I went to the beach, where I had a lovely swim in the ocean. But first I took some photos of the sunny beach. After all, it was the first day with the sun out this bright. While photographing I met Emelio, the beach bed guy who also guards the beach. While I was swimming, Emelio was kind enough to keep a watchful eye on my rug sack that had my camera in it.

To dry after splashing around in the breaks, I lay in the sun for a few minutes. Later that evening I could see that despite the generous application of sun screen lotion, my body still took on the colour of cooked lobster :) Talking of evening, the evening light was also nice, I couldn't resist taking some photos. This beautiful clear day was followed by a clear starry night which gave me the opportunity to take even some photos, now of the night sky. Though not as beautiful as in the Egyptian desert, the Cuban sky is high up in my most popular night skies list. For now, I would say a well deserved second place.

Again we had a marvelous lazy day, but I am happy to say tomorrow will be the day of our first excursion. We'll be sightseeing the hinterland, yippee!
