On our drive from Chitimba to Kande Beach the truck broke down on a steep mountain road.  It was something to do with one of the bolts holding part of the gear box in place sheering off.  Tim managed to fix it using cable ties and we were back on the road again within half an hour.  Just like the campsite at Chitimba, Kande Beach is also situated on the shore of Lake Malawi, which was great to jump into after I had been for a run and played volleyball.

We spent three nights at Kande beach in total and on the first night we made a punch with a significant amount of alcohol in.  We played a drinking game which ended up with out driver having to stand on the bar wearing only a carrier bag...  During the night it started raining and as none of us had put the fly sheet on we all had to stumble around in the dark (still drunk) to cover the tent.

The last day was a wash out, literally, as it rained Africa style till mid afternoon.  Usually the rains do not come till a little later in the year and our driver was concerned we would not be able to take the route intended if the rains continued.  I was finding the days lazing about on the beach a bit boring and was looking forward to getting back on the road.
