mom and dad boarding the ship
We (mom and dad, me and my husband Kevin) took a taxi to San Pedro after noon to board the ship. The check-in process was pretty painless and quick and we were aboard by 1pm. We had some lunch at the buffet and settled into our adjacent staterooms. The bathroom is spacious, considering this is a ship. It's quite a change from our first cruise, where we had a tiny bathroom barely enough to turn around in. We took the "treasure hunt" challenge which basically meant to visit several of the most popular and frequently visited locations on the ship to get a stamp on the card so we can enter it into a drawing later. It was a good way to get acquainted with the ship and to walk around anyway, so we did our rounds. By the time the sail-away party came around, we turned in our entry forms by the pool, watched the ship sail out of the San Pedro harbor.

Winners were announced, we were not among them. It was very chilly on deck, under a cloudy sky, even a few drizzles. But the spirits were high, and people were partying away. We also had our safety drill, which involved going to the muster stations with our life jackets, and hearing how we should follow instructions in case of an emergency. Then it's dinner time. We signed up for early sitting at the main dining room, so it was pretty early when we had to get to the dining room. We met our waiters for the week and enjoyed our first dinner on board. Afterwards, it was time for another walk around the ship to see where things are before retiring to the room.
