An Amazing Day in Ephesus

We entered into Kusadasi in the morning - another beautiful port and sunrise. The weather was absolutely fantastic. We again hired a private guide and driver so we were off to Ephesus before the buses rolled out.
Ephesus is absolutely astounding. Beautiful but also amazingly advanced. It really makes you feel humble to know that thousands of years ago, these people were already advanced enough to have sewer systems, running water, central heating, public toilets, etc. It really boggles the mind! One of the most impressive structures was the Celsus Library - gorgeous! Another highlight were the Roman Terrace Houses - phenomenal! The rich really knew how to live it up, even thousands of years ago.
After the tour we lunched portside at Kuzam. Really great food and the prices seemed reasonable, but there were again cats everywhere! Some of them were quite persistent in asking for food. My mom forbade me from giving them anything but then I caught her sneaking the kitties some of my lamb kebab! Gasp! Anyways, lunch was quite good: lamb kebab, a great salad and Turkish wine. We had planned to come back for a seafood dinner, but then we spent all our money shopping in Kusadasi so we decided to eat on board the ship.
Oh, before I forget, we got some baklava here too (mainly because Aran was insistent that the Greeks stole baklava from them) and you know what - it was better than the ones we got on Mykonos. The taste was similar but the texture was different. Now, I wish I had purchased more than one piece. Sigh.
