My hotel room had a fabulous view of the city. The hotel (sorry, I can't remember the name of it), also had a great buffet the next morning.
After breakfast, I went on a tour of the city with the first stop being the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos. This was a large monastary next to the maritime museum and the port area. The monastary was massive and well worth the trip. The maritime museum was interesting. The price was right (free) for both of these venues. In front of the Monastery there are large gardens with fountains and views of the bay. Very nice.
Next stop was a short photo shoot of the Torre de Belem. This is a huge monument right next to the bay, with ornate scultures leading up to a ledge. Great detail if you have a zoom lens. See photo.
Unfortunately, I missed some of the tour due to my excursion to the airport. As our ship was leaving the harbor, I took a few shots of the large bay bridge and the enormous monument on the other side. Not sure what that one was called.
