About a month ago, Lola(Itslola) sent me an invite for an upcoming meet up in Kansas City. I was sure I could make it and so I confirmed attendance. I had been checking flights and it all looked good for that day until the FAA computer outage on Thursday November 19 sort of caused problems. There had been some delays and people were rolled over to other flights. To add to it, there was fog in Cincinnati, which was where we were to connect. I used some creativity and found a good routing with plenty of open seats. We flew Indianapolis to Detroit on a Northwest Airbus 320 and I was in seat 1D, first class. The next flight was Detroit to Cincinnati on a Delta Connection CRJ-700.
Finally, it was another Delta Connection flight over to Kansas City. We arrived about noon and went out to see the Truman Sports Complex. I had been there before to see a Royals baseball game but Jerome wanted to check it out and that was fine with me. They are some nice stadiums. We then went to our hotel in downtown KC but it was too early for check in. We drove down the street and found a place to get a snack since we had not eaten all day. We ate at the Bulldog and it was great! After our meal, it was back to the hotel to check in and get a nap. Neither of us had slept much the night before and it showed. We were aslo preparing to pull an all nighter since we had to depart at 6:15am on Saturday morning. We were able to get a few hours of nap time, which caused us to be a little late to the meet up.

When we arrived at the meet up, the group had just had some appetizers so we sat down and all ordered dinner. I was still full from our afternoon snack but had to try something from Jack Stacks so I ordered the burnt ends platter which was fantastic. Everyone's meals looked so good. We all sat around chatting for a bit and then walked around Country Club Plaza while Mark told us a little it's history. We all left for the Power and Light District, which is a area of bars and clubs. It was still early but the place was already buzzing with people. We went to Mosaic Lounge. It was not too crowded and quiet enough so that we could all talk. The drinks were costly but then again, they always are in clubs. I had a very small gin and tonic for $6.

The place started to fill up and the DJ was playing very loud so we left. We went across to the Raglan Road Irish Pub. I loved this place!! It was packed and there was a good 80s cover band playing. We had a few drinks here and some good conversation. Mark and I toasted a couple of Guinness beers to our meet up.
After midnight, we went to Lola's place for karaoke. What fun! Lola is very talented on the Cher songs and Mark is the man on the mic! Ask him about his rendition of Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" It was simply awesome!
Jerome and I had to work Sunday so we could only come to the Friday night part of this meet up abd we actually had to get a 6:15am flight out of Kansas City on Saturday.
Power and Light District
We had to leave Lola's at about 3am. We went back to the hotel and got ready and then went to MCI airport and turned in our rental car. We caught the 6:15 Northwest flight to Detroit. It was a DC-9 aircraft and we both got first class. I just slept the whole 2 hour flight. I was exaughsted! We were practically going on 48 hours sraight. We had an hour in Detroit and then took a Northwest Airlink CRJ-200 to Indianapolis. I stayed up the whole day so I could get back on my sleep pattern. It was tough to do!
The Kansas City group is awesome! They are very friendly and I felt like I had known them all my life. It was great to meet some other TB members from all over the USA as well.
Thank you to Lola, Mark, and the rest who set this up!!
