Arnhem? bij ?Slag>During the Battle of Arnhem "Hartenstein Hotel was the headquarters of the British commander Major General RE Urquhart. The museum is now in the same building.

A nicely decorated and cared about the museum "Battle of Arnhem, by about 5 life-size dioramas. It follows the battle from day to day, the air stops, the fierce fighting that took place around Arnhem and Oosterbeek to the withdrawal.

Beautiful material, after the battle left or excavated. Beautiful dioramas and audiovisual presentations provide goosebumps. After the visit has been an impressive picture of this tragedy in September 1944. In the summer about a possible tour the battlefields around Oosterbeek.

In 2009 the museum was completely refurbished. In a new space is a battlefield completely reconstructed including moving images and sounds great.

After our visit we had a drink in the restauarant next to the museum. Keiko and Harry, they brought a chocolate letter for each of us, because Sinterklaas was in the Netherlands. It was a surprise and it was very nice and delicious!!

Nee geen tijd voor gehad, het was een kleine meet up. Na het bezoek aan het museum zijn we nog naar de begraafplaats geweest en daarna nog met elkaar gegeten in Arnhem. Kortom een geslaagde en gezellige middag/avond.

Good pick Jan. A bridge too far. Remember, as a child, meeting a guy that had gone in and him showing me all the bullet wounds in his stomach, as they were being shot up before they even hit the ground :-O
