it was good to leave the chaos of italy behind and enter a new country...we entered the alps yet again, this time the swiss alps on a cold and very rainy day.... switzerland is a neutral country in many ways...they are not apart of the UN, Nato or the european union...so that would mean a new currency...the swiss franc which is absolutely bizarre looking and is equivalent to the dollar or thereabouts..

when we hit the border we were prepared to stop since they are not apart of the union...we made it through...generally they stop people from dirty places like italy or some of the former commie countries...

we got a very nice view of lake como, one of the richest enclaves in the world...people such as george clooney have homes there....pristine lake surrounded by towering peaks...equals awesomeness..

our first hours in switzerland were anti climatic for a few reasons...first, it was rainy and cloudy so it was hard to see the mountains...second, there are so many tunnels...so we spent a lot of time in the dark including a 17km tunnel in the middle of the country..

we pulled into lucerne in the early evening..another beautiful town..it is super small and quiant and sits on lake lucerne, and once again towering peaks in the background...we checked in our hotel, which is the hotel flora...a 4 star hotel, so its really nice.... after check in we went to a local watch and swiss army knife shop...much to my dismay i didnt see anything i like...coupled with the fact that this country is soooooooo overpriced...a small coke at the mcdonalds for example, 350 american...rip off... after our stop i walked through town to take in the sights before calling it an early night..
