Cape Town
September 7, 2005
This was the view from our room the first morning. Clear sky to Table Mtn. My girlfriend never saw the mtn without the cloud cover. This time we had 4 clear days.
We spent 4 days in Cape Town. Visited the city, Cape Point, the wine country, and the Townships. More on that later. Very pleasent city compared to some other S. African Cities most notably Durban. You feel very safe in the center during the day. We did not wonder about at night. You are really warned not to. Our hotel had a shuttle to the V&A. Great place for dinner. We were at the Holiday Inn Waterfront. The name is decieving as you really can't walk to the V&A. They claim to ba across from it and they are but the very far end.
The things that should not be missed is the Cape Point, The Wine towns and one must visit the townships. Without that you can not understand what is going on in the "new" South Africa. More on that latter.
Africa Cafe

We had dinner at the Africa Cafe. they have a all you can eat sit down dinner of foods from all over Africa. The menu has about 17 dishes of which you can have seconds or thirds or whatever of what you like. And the bread is great. The rooms are decorated in different patterns to represent different parts of Africa. Dancing takes place all night from room to room. Reservations are a must. Take a taxi there and when finished they will call one for you. Do not walk there.
