Setting up gliders behind juniper pines on the lee side of the crest to get a break from the wind.
Pete was seriously injured in an hanggliding accident a couple of years ago. Early on there was a question as to whether or not he would walk again. Shattered pelvis really messes with walking. So when we were invited to his 40something birthday party at Bear Lake I really didn't think it would be an "air" event even though the famous Randolph Mountain site was only 30 or 40 miles away because I didn't think Pete was doing mountain sites yet. We took our tandem bike & tandem kayak & camping gear & a paraglider, just in case.

Got there late & everyone was at the mountain. So we went to the mountain. Sure enough, Pete was hanggliding.

Drove up the mountain & getting launched was a bit of a rodeo. It was gusty & chilly. Most folks needed someone to help them get launched because of the gustiness of the air coming up the slope. Some folks did the launch rodeo & gave it up til another day.

I thought you guys might enjoy the photos.

That looks wonderful ! Sigh... we don't have the open space over there. What with the insane air traffic around.
