I went on my first official college "field trip" today and it was a BLAST!!! We had class in the morning, but then our professor and the group leader took us Sentosa, the island that we visited before, to a museum called "Images of Singapore" which was all about Singapore from its very beginning until now. It was cool because we already knew all of the history! Most of it was wax figures, but at one point there was a man posing as a wax figure. We were all gathered around him trying to decide if he was real (his eyes were shut) and I kept telling Katie to touch it. Suddenly, he jumped up and scared our entire group of about 25 people!!! Our professor even screamed!! It was so hilarious! Then we were set free to do whatever we wanted! :-)
The world volleyball tour was on this beach, so of course.
Bridge to the southern most point of ASIA!
..I went! Unfortunately, the last match had just ended, but we bought tickets to go back on Sunday for the finals! We did get to see the Cubans play the Germans in a sort of practice match. They were SO amazing! It blows my mind how high they jump, fast the move, and hard they hit all on the sand! I'm VERY excited about going back on Sunday!
The most southern point on the continental Asia was on this Island (its complex because it is an island connected to an island connected to another island all by bridges...but whatever, it was still cool). Katie, Margaret and I walked along the beach to it. It was such a beautiful day. The beaches on Singapore aren't the nicest I've ever seen, but a beach is a beach! We had a great view of the port too...which is so HUGE! I can't wait to get a "birds eye tour" of it at the end of the trip!
