On the way to Toledo from Cordoba, we took a small detour to the small town of Consuegra, to see several windmills. The town was pretty small and quiet on a Sunday afternoon. We went up a hill called Mt Clderico behind the town, and there were eleven old style windmills there (there were originally 13), and a castle from the 12th century, destroyed by the Napoleonic troops (currently under restoration). The tourist office is in one of the windmills, and they had information about other places to see in town. Although we did not have too much time to see other things, just the windmills. It's very picturesque, and although there were no Don Quixote here, this is the scene I had imagined when thinking about Spain and windmills.
