Dublin
July 22, 2000
Our whirl-wind trip to Ireland began with a one-night stay in Dublin. Upon arriving, we discovered that my luggage was missing, so naturally I had to go out and buy a completely new wardrobe in case my suitcases didn't arrive by the time we left the next day. It was in this manner that I discovered Grafton Street, Dublin's shopping capital, and fell in love. (While my father was still trying to get used to the right-hand drive car that we rented, we drove onto Grafton Street without realizing it was a pedestrian-only zone. After several dirty looks and much shouting from passers-by, we discovered our error, parked, and began shopping.)
After Grafton Street, we made our way over to Trinity College to see the Book of Kells. As I am a fan of all things Celtic (as well as all things Medieval), this was easily one of the highlights of my trip.
