First day

Got the train from Meppel to Hoogeveen. From there I walked to work which is in the main shopping street of Hoogeveen, de Hoofdstraat. An ideal location as I can have a look around the shops during my lunch break! :-)

I will be doing work experience at D-Reizen, which is a chain of travel agencies in The Netherlands. (This does NOT mean I can book trips at huge discounts for all my friends! :-P)

As most shops don't open until after luchtime on Monday we don't either, we are open from 1-6pm. On my first day I didn't get to look around the town much apart from the walk from the train station but the main shopping street has a wide variety of shops to choose from. There is also the "Cascade", a water feature in the centre of the street, which is a good spot to sit in Summer (as long as the weather is good of course!)

I will report on the town of Hoogeveen as I try out the local sandwichbars, restaurants and more... Pics will be added too of course!
