We crossed into the Czech Republic about noon (they actually came on the bus and checked every single passport) and the difference was pretty apparent. For one thing, the language is incredibly difficult to even guess at. Every now and then there are words that look like an English word, but just have a random 'z' or 'v' and various shape over the letters for the sole purpose of making it fun.
We arrived at the hotel in Prague later in mid-afternoon, and it is a standard hotel whose chain is a sister company from American hotels. It is nice, but is in the not-so-nice part of town. However we are close to the subway and a 10-minute walk into town.
We had a few hours before dinner, so I finished my FAB stuff and decided to go for a run. The city really is beautiful and the river that cuts through it is pretty impressive. I ran into town and then back out along the river. It was very refreshing and exciting to be in running in a completely new environment since it was my first time setting foot out into Prague.
Next came welcome dinner at the hotel restaurant. It wasn't really local food, but it was fish and I really enjoyed it, not having eaten it in weeks. After dinner, we tried to go out to a bar, but failed and I wanted to get some stuff done before the next few days.
