Basilique de Notre Dame de la Paix de Yamoussoukro
It was closely modelled on St. Peterâ€™s Basilica with its huge courtyard.
Columns are plentiful throughout the basilica but are not uniform in style .The dome on the basilica is massive
(apparently larger than St. Peters) but the most striking is the mass of stained glass.
A one noteworthy commissioned huge stained glass of Jesus Christ with his twelve disciples will be seen with image of Catholic
former president (FĂ©lix HouphouĂ«t-Boigny) of the Ivory Coast and people behind the construction whose size was surpassed to
become "largest church in the world."

It can accomodate 18,000 people , a total of 7,000 seated and 11,000 standing
It is modeled after the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome, but larger, making it the biggest church in the world.
It was constructed between 1985 and 1989 at a cost of $300 million
It is constructed entirely of marble (30 acres) imported from Italy and decorated with 23,000 square feet (7,000 m2) of contemporary stained glass from France.
Felix Houphouet-Boigny features prominently in a stained glass window scene of Jesus and the Apostles inside the basilica.
Pope John Paul came to consecrate the church on the basis that a hospital would be built nearby (theyre starting the construction of the Catholic Hospital beside the area)
