We arrived in sunny Mexico, late morning. Our resort is the RIU Yucatan, rather than the RIU Playacar, which we had booked. Due to the swine flu epidemic, it had been closed for cleaning/lack of crowds.
Standing at the front desk, we were greeted with a fruity welcome drink that was quite tasty. After dropping our luggage off in the room, and changing into our bathing suits, we ate lunch by the pool. The fresh fruit is amazing! Maybe it'll be easier to watch what I eat than I thought it would be. Once our hunger pains were cured, we went to the beach. Absolutely gorgeous. I could stay there all day. The water is the prettiest I've ever seen, and the sand is so nice. I think I've fallen in love with this place.
We moved our chairs closer to the water and then waded in the glorious turquoise Sea. We didn't stay much longer. Being our first day in the Caribbean sun, Emily was afraid she would burn, so we went back to the room. We took showers and got ready for the evening.
We met with Carlos, our Lomas representative about our departure and excursions. We are definitely interested in the zipline jungle adventure. Before dinner, we walked down to the shops out in front of the resort. I found my Mexican Coke bottle! We ate dinner at the buffet because we were too late for dinner reservations in the restaurants. We were some of the first people in there for dinner. They had a really nice selection of food. I had steamed vegetables and sirloin steak that was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
We returned to the beach after eating. We didn't stay there long, just long enough to write our names in the sand, but since we are absolutely exhausted, we are calling it an early night. (Afterall, we began before 3 AM this morning!)
