Driving around Cali at 4am!
Last night I asked for a wake up call at 4am. Yes, very early... And arranged a cab for 4:30am. When the phone rang, I was already awake, hahaha. Everything was ready. The only thing left for the final minute was packing the sweets that were inside the fridge, but didn't forget that. How could I do something like that? hahaha.
It took just 15min to arrive to the airport. There was no traffic at all, hahaha. First of all, checking in. I show my passport and the paper they gave me when I arrived to Colombia. Sweet! No need to pay airport fees, hehehe. The line to clear customs was starting to get bigger, but wasn't a problem at all. Hey! but what is this other line? Yes, security. It should go fast too. Bad assumption. The line didn't move for 20min at least.
Why? Well, all the workers haven't arrived yet and yes all the passengers had to wait. Things should be more organized. People kept on clearing customs and the line for security was growing and growing, but nobody could go through it, pfff. Finally the staff was complete. How many were they? Ok, let me see: first there was a guy asking you how many US$ you were taking with you and how long would you stay abroad. Me: "US$20, I'm flying back home." Then scanning your carry on. There were 2 people for the machine and there were 2 machines, so we have 4 people. Then there was an officer whose work was to say which line to follow. Another line? Yes, this time they will open your carry on. But wasn't the scan machine for that? Nevermind. Women's carry on would be checked by men and men's by women, pfff. There were 3 people doing that in each line. So, the total number of people working on security is: 12!!! Yes, crazy! It took longer going through security than driving from the hotel to the airport, pfff.
Anyway, it was around 6am when I was at the gate waiting to board the plane. The positive side was that the waiting wouldn't be too long, hahaha. After 30 min boarding started and it was 7am when we were taking off. Bye, bye Cali, city with friendly people except at airport's security...
