The rainy start of an amazing weekend
The day had finally arrived for the Halloween weekend and the Voodoo fest in New Orleans. I had been making arrangements to meet with Sal (sincitytraveler) since he would be in the city for a medical conference, so I was very excited about this!
This morning was a bit chaotic in Ruston. There had been a tornado in Shreveport and a lot of rain in our town the night before, so I woke up only finding out that we had a major blackout in the city. The only place with electricity was Latech, so I went there to finish up the last few details about my trip. I started driving towards Shreveport to get my rental car, and fortunately the rain stopped somewhere in the middle of the road. I got my car, then headed to New Orleans taking I-49 south. The weather had been beautiful until again dark clouds started to gather and delivered a tremendous storm! It was literally pouring all the way between Alexandria an Baton Rouge. Obviously this delayed my trip a little bit, but fortunately I could still make it in time to my hostel to get ready to meet Sal at the Voodoo fest!
