Meeting the group and going to the first campsite
I was up early after only having a few hours sleep. I was still a bit nervous but I was in a more positive mood today.
I went down to meet the others. I meet Emanuel ( tour leader) for the first time, the first person to speak and introduce themselves was a women called Sue. Who happend to live only 20 mins from me back home and was an author. It's a small world I thought.
We had to pick a locker and stuff all our gear in it. There were a few people outside but everyone was really quite they would smile at me and say hello. Once everybody was on board we set of for are first camp at lake Baringo. People talked a little bit on the bus just small conversation.
We got to our site had a look around and got briefed on the site and told there maybe hippos around night time. Then it was a demo on putting up the tents which was done by Doc he is the co tour leader. Because there was myself, Steve and Eric one of us had to have a tent on their own so I said I would do it as Steve didn’t want to have a tent on his own . I wasn’t bothererd and they looked small so more room for me hehe
The other guys done there tents then help me put mine up I chose a spot closest to the lake it was still a long way away. We had a look around the lake We then sat around the fire and had are first meal and talked about the next day and what we would be doing. We all went bed pretty early. It was nice to lie there and listen to the noises of the wildlife especially the birds it was like my ambient cd.
What was funny earlier on there were the camels outside my tent eating from the trees haha there are also a lot of very colourful birds around. I took some photos and recorded a bit of lake baringo today.
I’m tired so im going to listen to the birds and insects and get some sleep.
