This is another long journal entry but it was an awsome day
Today was the most amazing day ever it even I think it may even beat the gorillas just. I was awake at 3.15 am and up at 3.45 am. I went and had a wash to wake up a bit. And went to the truck and then Sue turned up and told me that when she got up a man tapped her on the shoulder and scared the crap out of her it was a 6ft4 Massai warrior with a bow and arrow he patrols the campsite. Then she thought she had seen eyes we joked around for a while then one by one the other girls turned up.
We got picked up and left at 4.
We had a short drive to the balloon we arrived and our pilot came over and had a chat with us and told us because of the wind we would have to get in the balloon on its side and lay inside ( see photo’s later) This was most strange but so fun, we all had a laugh. The balloon took off and off we went. We watched the sunrise slowly over the plains of the Massai Mara all you could hear was the hot air balloon rising higher. We all just stood there quietly in total awe To be able to look around and then see hundreds if not thousands of black dots in groups and when you got closer realised it was the migrating wilder beast and then Zebras, impala etc it was out of this world my eyes could not believe I was seeing it. Words can’t really describe how I was feeling up there in the balloon.
From the balloon we also saw hyenas, then lionesses stalking the wilder beast . Over a small pond and we came across elephants that were small dots at first We were pretty low down as we got close to the wilder beast they would run in all direction is was amazing to watch. The whole experience was awesome and to share it with the ladies was cool. The hour seemed to go so fast as you got lost in your thoughts and were memorised by the experience.
We touched down in the middle of the game reserve and they had tables set out, all fancy. There were chefs in their whites and waiters and Massia men waiting for you. Breakfast was so tasty it was a full on breakfast and we had champagne that the waited kept filling up.
Our 4by4 had broke down so we had to be split into pairs and join other trucks so I ended up with Sue, as we were the last two to go. As we drove back we stopped as another 4by4 had a flat tire we helped out then drove off. On the way are driver stopped at various places to show us any game we came across. We were lucky we went and seen two lionesses my first glimpse at any big cat close up. They were beautiful. We stayed and watched them for a while and took photos. We didn’t see much more hyenas in a mud pool and the normal game.
We got back and there was no one else there so we got a drink sat and waited, the other groups stopped and saw more game than we did.
We continued and had an amazing day’s game drive we saw more lionesses and a lion, the normal Zebra, buffalo, Thomas gazzel and elephants ( which I was so happy to sea). This is the kind of place you could spend day’s looking and never get bored. The group are in such high spirits again. After the game drive we went back to the campsite.
We went to the bar and had a few drinks and played card’s with Sara, Clinton, Edwin, Brooke and Nadia we stayed there to 10 and had a laugh I went to bed but a few of the others stayed up.
For the first time in a long time I feel happy and totally content. I have already achieved so much, I am doing things I never dreamt of being able to do.
