Today was another good day we had a long drive to the Serengeti. And the roads are very rough and it is very dusty. We got to the Serengeti but drove quite fast to the campsite only stopping if there was anything to see. It was a long drive to the campsite. As we drove past a small water hole we seen two elephants very close to the water and there was a male eating from a tree close to the road so we pulled up alongside it, turned the truck off and sat and watched it eat. We spent a while just watching these two huge elephant’s. We were so close it was so cool, then it started groaning It was the first time I had heard them make a noise before well except TV. As it groaned I did try and get my camcorder out to record it but I couldn’t get it out of the locker.
We seen some of the other game and a whole herd of elephants that crossed the road ahead of us I got some nice photos. We made our way to the campsite and it was another rough campsite so no showers and smelly toilets so we had the norm rules about going to the toilet etc. We set up camp and because there was no Pete and it was Anne and myself on cook duty it was a simple tea. Edwin and Leigh took care of the meat, Anne done veg prep with Missy and I ended up starting taking over doing the coleslaw, they made it very plane and tasteless so I added a lot of stuff and spiced it up everyone loved it I didn’t think it was that good I didn’t have the right ingredients ( I was a chef for 5 years back home). Then after playing around with that Leigh asked me to taste the mince it was very bland and watery. Too much tomatoes stuff but I could not be mean and say it tasted well bland.
It’s know 11.
I am up tomorrow at 5.20 to have a morning game drive in the Serengeti then a long drive along crap roads to Ngorogoro crater. The stars are amazing tonight and it’s so peaceful. I am going to make the most out of the next 6 days. Loving the holiday and the company.
