Saint Simon's Island

I loved this little island. It was my first time visiting and I couldn't believe it was right in my backyard. I liked the beach a little more than Tybee Beach. It was much more pristine and I loved the rocks. We arrived right after the summer rush and I felt like I was on a private island. The beach was deserted and clean and stretched on for miles. The private homes on the ocean front were very beautiful creating a nice backdrop for the perfect coastal get away. They were mostly empty and I believe some of the owners rent them out during peak season or use as second homes.
There is a really nice recreational park on the beach with lots of activites for the kids/adult with a swimming pool. I didn't sample any of the restaurants by Ocean drive but there's the usual offerings of bars, seafood, pizza, Italian that sort of thing. Its not an all night party town though, restaurants etc closed at the 10pm window. Sea Island is a few minutes drive from St. Simons Island and there you will find the very private and exclusive for members only Cloister Island accommodations.
Sadly I only spent a day and half in St. Simons and plan to return soon to explore it a little more. I will share more findings at that time. Meanwhile enjoy the few pics I took :). Overall aesthetically pleasing to the eye, a nice getaway.
