A beautiful day and Europe's most powerful waterfall

After a good night sleep, real beds, hot showers we were ready for another three nights of camping. Every one still got along very well. Well rested, it was time to continue our adventure. We are about halfway of Iceland. There are still amazing things to come, but not as many as in the south of the island.
At 10am we left the motel. First stop was Europe's largest waterfall, biggest in volume: Dettifoss. A new road led us to this powerful waterfall. The last few km was off road, time to play and have some fun!
Amber had brought two of her dresses and we did a photo shoot of her next to Dettifoss. Just a few hundreds meter above this giant, was Selfoss, another waterfall, but not nearly as large.
On the way to Akureyri we found some hot springs and steamholes near the road.
Today we changed the route a little bit. We planned to drive up all the way up north, off road all the way. It would take a lot of time, for nothing special in particular. So we kept following the Ring Road 1 and tried to get as far as we could make it. That way we would have time to see the beautiful west and Snaefellsjoküll Glacier.
We managed to drive past Akureyri and found a perfect camping spot chosen by Matthew. Right behind us where mountains with snow. A little stream to do the dishes in and get drinking and cooking water. Water is so clean in Iceland, that you can drink it any where, any time.
Dave, with some help from others, got a small fire going for cooking and some heat to warm us up. It was cold here!!!
Erik and Wilmke cooked dinner tonight for the three of us. Erik had found some wild mushrooms and added them to the pasta. That food and one beer made me crazy for the whole night. I was saying the weirdest things... I think the mushrooms might have been a little magically to me... hahahaha
We stayed in the Landrover, because it was just to cold outside, and together with Matt, Janja, Mark and Lieke we had a little party. After a while we got kicked out by Janja and Mark, because they sleep in the Landrover. Finishing our drinks by the campfire, it was time for another night of outdoor sleeping! It was dry and there were so many stars!
