A beautiful sunny morning. It had been very cold at night, since the dew was frozen up on the tarp and at night Matt had woken us because there was a faint northern light to see!!! I stole Matts pics. Most nights hadn't been extremely cold and were cloudy all night long. Definitely a bonus at the end of a fabulous camping trip!

Last morning of breaking down camp. Can't believe it's almost over! It feels like I know all this people for such a long time and it has only been 9 days. We still have fun, we get along very well, no injuries and a lot of laughs.
We drove back to Reykjavik. We wanted to fill up the cars before returning them to the rental company. The N1 gas stations work with cards with credit on it. We had two new ones, and they were never charged correctly by the N1.

We didn't got new cards, not even after talking to some of the managers... We were screwed! F*ck the N1. We went to another gas station around the corner.
We took all our stuff from the cars, returned it without damage and got ready for the Glacier Hike.

It was a beautiful day. Sunny and almost warm with 12 degrees C. A 2,5 hour drive brought us back to the Sólheimajoküll Glacier, where we had been a week before. Unfortunately Amber and David didn't join us, because they felt sick. It was an easy hike, but great to do. We got crampons and ice axes, and were ready to go. The guides were nice and told us about the glacier, the vulcanoes in the area, and the geological history of Iceland. Iceland used to be covered under ice, but vulcanoes, moving earth plates, earth quakes and all those things changed the land forever.

Even recently (in the last few hundreds years), new island appeared at the cost of Iceland were people live now.

We returned at 8pm after a hilarious drive back. I was hyperactive and together with Dave and Lieke, we showed the others our great singing skills. Golden oldies, clasics and whatever else we could sing/yell with. I think most of us, including the guide, were happy when the battery of Matts IPhone died...
A quick shower made us feel human again. Ready for a party night! We met six more Travbuddies at restaurant Oliver. (Harriet, Mark, Alyssa, Julie, Hrabi, Robert, Sarah). After dinner we went to some clubs. Hrabi was our guide and he organised together with Lauro the meet up. In the end we walked home at 5am and had a great night out.
