Ending my first day in AQP w/ a perfect evening
October 9, 2009
Beautiful and perfect. I will never forget this. Inca ruins with Chachani (left) and Misti (right)... all to myself!
After a long flight to Peru (but then again I'm used to it), getting off the plane early in the morning in Arequipa was worth the long flight. I remembered once I got off the plane, I looked behind me and saw how beautiful Chachani was. My Peruvian friend, Jimmy, picked me up at the airport, which I totally appreciate. I already fell in love with Arequipa's beauty at first sight when we were riding in a taxi and going to my hotel. I knew that I was going to miss Arequipa already.
The evening was definitely memorable and perfect. After a nice nap, I met up with Jimmy and we walked around Arequipa for a bit. Then, we waited at a corner and Jimmy called a taxi for us. I had no idea where we were going. When we arrived to the location, we were at a little plaza and there was a church. Jimmy led the way and I followed him. We went down a cobblestone street, turned right, and then what a nice surprise! There were Inca ruins with Chachani and the majestic Misti. I was in awe and I had a grin on my face! It was sooo nice! What was great is that I had the place to myself. No crowds of tourists! It was such a lovely place. It was perfect. This totally made up for my decision to not go to Machu Picchu. I did not ask Jimmy what part of Arequipa we were at until I returned to my hotel. We were in the Paucarpata district. I will never forget it.
