Me getting holy mineral water
This morning I discovered another positive point of the hotel: they have some nice sweet bread! After breakfast we finally went to Rome! I've been looking forward to this day the whole week. In the bus our tour guide told us the story about how Romelus and Remus founded the city Rome. Arrived in Rome we got the guide and the earphones again and we began at the Colloseum. The colloseum is an arena build in 72 built by Vespianus for entertaining the population with among other things the gladiator matches. The guide told us an other story about the foundation of Rome. At the 7 hills would have lived nomads who got in touch and founded Rome together. After the colloseum we got back to the bus for a trip through Rome.
Me throwing 2 coins in the Trevi Fountain
Then the city walk started at the Trevi fountain. Of course I throwed a coin over my left shoulder in the fountain. Over the left sholder because your heart is left and a coin because then you'll get back to Rome some day. If you throw 2 coins you'll get back with your love. I throwed two coins so maybe I'll get back to rome with my future love haha. After the trevi fontein we pass by the Pantheon. Unfortunately we can't get inside because someone is getting married over there (nowadays it's a church). The city walk ends at the piazza Navona and from there our own tour guide took us to the Vatican. This is what I was waiting for. I've seen the film Angels & Demons (the Bernini mystery) and recognized a lot of the film. We started at Castel sant Angelo. This castle belongs together with the Aurelian wall to the defence of the Vatican.
me in front of the Colosseum
There is a corridor between the Vatican and the Castel to ensure the safety of the Pope. We walk from the Castel to the Vatican. Before we start our walking we're having lunch in a nice small lunchroom. Then we're going with Madeleine to the holy store where I got some souvenirs. I walked with my mam around the Vatican and we visited the St. Pieter Church. It's a beautiful church, also inside. We walke around and via the tombs of the former popes we left the building. After 2 hours in the Vatican we collect at st. Pieter square and we go back to the bus. On our way we see a sort of fountain with holy water. The water is drinkable and we fill our empty bottles with it. This day was surely one of the best!
