Beverly Beach State park: Our yurt on the coast

We had a long weekend to go to the coast for my birthday so we decided to save some money the first night and stay in a yurt at Beverly Beach State Park, Which is just north of Newport.  The weather was turning into fall weather quickly so a yurt was a great way to stay out of the rain.

We arrived at Newport and completed our grocery shopping at the Safeway store.  From there we headed up the coast and got to Beverly Beach State Park and checked in to our yurt.  Yurts are $27 per night and they offer all the comforts you need to enjoy yourself even if it is raining.  There is a futon couch, a bunk bed with a double sized bed on the bottom and a twin sized bed on the top.  There area also a couple of chairs, a coffee table and a small dinner table.

It was not raining when we got there so before dinner we thought we would go check out the beach.  There is an underpass that goes under the highway and gets you to the beach.  Well it was high tide and the beach was not accessible.  As soon as we got under the bridge a wave came sweeping up onto the beach so we could see that it was a no go.  So instead we walked through the campground to see what that was like.  It is a typical big over 100 site campground so a lot of the sites had very little privacy.  There were a few that seemed nice enough though. (I took note of those for future reference and you can see those in the review below)

Back at the yurt it was starting to get dark so we started our dinner.  You are not supposed to cook in your yurt so we were grilling up some steaks and some veggies that we had gotten at the store on our campfire grill.  They turned our to be pretty tasty.  After dinner we settled in for the night with the rain just starting to come down.
