A day at the coast

We awoke to a beautiful (fog free) day on the northern Oregon coast. We decided to go down to town to get a breakfast. There are only two restaurants in town so that makes deciding a lot easier. We decided on Brewin in the Wind (see the review below) because their prices are a lot more reasonable and they have a pretty relaxed environment. The other place Rosannas Cafe is more spendy, it does sit right above the beach so if you are lucky enough to get a table it is a pretty sweet spot. But we had a nice breakfast at Brewin in the Wind and even got to use their free Wifi (password required).
After breakfast we got ready to go for a hike out to the end of Cape Lookout. But first we wanted to check out the beach on the north end of Oceanside that you reach by going through the tunnel in the headland.
Our major event for the day is to go for a hike out to the end of Cape Lookout. The trail is 2.5 miles long and should be perfect length for a day hike. We get to the parking lot and it is half full . The hike turns out to be really nice. There are nice views of the forest with the ocean far below. The cape is rather steep and is high above the ocean so you never get close to the ocean at all but you can still hear it and get the sense of it beng there.
After out hike we went in to Tillamook to get some crabs and clams to cook in our room for dinner.
After getting the seafood we decided to go to duck into the cheese factory for a little snack of cheese samples. Nothing like a quick little bite of cheese for an afternoon snack. It was a bit of a zoo in there so we decided to get out of thre quick. Tasty cheese though.
Back at the room we watched the sun go down over the ocean, opened up a bottle of wine and cooked up our clams for dinner. (we ended up saving the crab for when we got home. It was delicious) Another successful day on the Oregon coast.
