Oceanside, Oregon: A beautiful Gray day on the coast.

We awoke to what the weatherman had said would happen.  A mostly cloudy day with the chance of rain.  Which is pretty much what you would expect for weather this time of year.  Summers tend to be dry and warm and winters tend to be wet and cool (not cold).  The view from our hotel was still amazing.  The mix of grey colors you would expect to see on the coast.  We wanted to get back home at a reasonable time so we planned on leaving the coast at the 11:00 check out time of the hotel.  We had a relaxed breakfast in our room and then we slowly packed our things not losing sight of the scenery around us at the hotel.

We chose to take a diferent route home from the coast.  We came through Corvalis and Newport on the way to the coast but this time we thought we would try going home from Tillamook to Portland on the Wilson River which goes through the Oregon State forest.

Oceanside, Oregon: Looking down on the town of Oceanside from the Clifftop Inn..
This turned out to be very nice.  The fall colors were in full splendor and it was a beautiful drive along the river. (no pictures though- a gray cloudy and a lightly drizzling day)  The road drives nicely and traffic was not a problem.

On the way through Hillsboro we made a stop at the Roloff Farms  where the reality show "Little People Big World" is filmed.  They have a Pumpkin  harvest season when the farm is open so we thought we would stop and pick up a pumpkin and check out the place.  It was a nice little break from our drive and we got to see Amy, Zac and Jeremy working the grounds.

We passed through Portland then over the mountain pass at Mount Hood and we were back home in Bend after a nice weekend getaway.
