We awoke to a damp and foggy morning at our campsite at Cape Lookout State park and we figured the best thing to do was just get moving, so we packed up our campsite and headed south to Pacific City.
We stopped at Cape Kiwanda State Park to have breakfast. You can drive your car onto the beach at Cape Kiwanda so we drove out onto the beach to have a tailgate picnic breakfast. The beach is open to cars to launch dory boats into the ocean, on one side, and for people to park their car on the beach and enjoy the view on the other. We were enjoying the view from the tailgate of the truck. After breakfast we went for a walk over to the edge of the Cape to check out the tidal pools. There is a large area where you can look into the tidal pools and see anemones, starfish and little fishes (Rockfish). Pretty cool. There are also quite a few people who surf at the beach here. It is a beautiful spot to be. We didn't really have time to hike up on the sandy side of the cape today sinse we were heading back home but there were a lot of people sliding back down the steep sides of the cape in the sand.
From here we headed back home so we could get back to work the next day. We stopped for lunch at Moe's Seafood in Newport before we headed back inland to our home in Bend. We were excited about coming back for our next trip to the coast to see these places again.
