One day visit to Chinchón
May 15, 2007
If you are in Madrid and you have the chance, it is worthwhile to spend a day visiting Chinchón. We got there on Monday night and we stayed in a hotel 40metres from the "Plaza Mayor". It is amazing how they have conserved the town like in the old days.
We had a dinner at a restaurante at "Plaza Mayor". All restaurants there are quite expensive, you pay the location! Next day we had an awesome breakfast in the hotel and then we started walking around the town. Basically you can see everything in less than 2 hours. We ended up in "Plaza Mayor"having the bigget beer! with some olives, of course...
But i have to warn you that this year is not the best time to go as they are doing construction in the "Plaza Mayor" so now it is not that nice! wait until next year... 2008... it will look better!
By the way, it is very close from Aranjuez, so you can drive there and takes you 20 min.
Overall it is a good 1day visit.

There are not too many hotels in town, so this is a very good option. Next to it you have "Paradores" but it is much more expensive. For one night we paid 70 euros, not including parking. It is 40metres from the "Plaza Mayor". If you have to stay in Chinchón I would strongly recommend it. By the way, get breakfast as you can have it on a beautiful "patio". Remember to go outside, don´t stay inside. The shower is quite good, good pressure and quite big (picture attached) and has a mini bar too. Although it is a 3 star hotel, breakfast is quite good, they even serve fresh orange juice, and for those on diet, you have good options!

It is a restaurant placed in the "Plaza de Chinchón". The food was quite good although the price was high. We pay for 2 people with wine ("Marqués de Cáceres") and 2 drinks (rum&coke) almost 80 euros. Definitely you pay for the location. Service was very good! For startes we had a nice plate of cheese ("semi curado"). If you are vegeterian, you will be in trouble! hahah If you go for lunch they have a nice balcony overviewing the "Plaza". Among all restaurants in "Plaza Mayor" it is the one looking better.
