browsing makati city
October 25, 2009
Makati is noted for its highly cosmopolitan culture, also being a major cultural and entertainment hub in Metro Manila. Many expatriates live and work in the city. Makati is also home to many first-class shopping malls.
It's been a long time since i had my last blog. well, i had a lot to write but i am quite busy this past few days and months.
maybe you're wondering why do i have an entry now. well, i just have nothing to do. hehe...I just took a 3 days off from work. Instead of heading south for a vacay,i decided to spend my weekend in the city and be with friends. We don't have an itenerary, basta come what may..:) and since we're all living in Makati area we decided to spend our days browsing the city.
Makati City is really a prestigious place in Manila area. Here is where you can find large business firms and edifices. This is a place where you can actually consider a haven for elite people, a place where you can actually enjoy yourself from its views, landmarks, and also some convenience stalls.
The city of Makati, or simply Makati, is one of the cities and municipalities that make up Metro Manila, the greater metropolitan area of the national capital of the Philippines. It is the major financial, commercial and economic hub in the Philippines often referred to as the financial capital of the Philippines since many global companies have their offices and headquarters in the city. Makati is also home to the influential
Makati Business Club and the Philippines Stock Exchange. Ayala avenue running through the heart of downtown Makati central business district is often called the Wall Street of the Philippines.
Within Makati City, transportation is not a problem. Makati transportation is safe, easy, and abundant.People in Makati often opt for cabs to different places in the city. Cabs are hardest to find available during peak hours, which is early in the morning, at noon time, and late in the afternoon. It is also convenient to take jeepneys from Ayala corner EDSA or Gil Puyat corner EDSA, but these routes often suffer traffic bottle necks. Jeepneys cannot take other routes except those they are licensed to take. With this in view, it is often more convenient to take a cab which can go any route less burdened with traffic.
During my 3 days off, I spend most of my time hanging out with friends, catching up the lost time. We hang out in our favorite tambayan in Makati the Greenbelt shopping complex, which is located in the heart of the Makati business area and is accessible via Edsa Avenue, exit Ayala Avenue. If you’re too tired to drive, you can take the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) to the Ayala station, or other forms of public transportation that conveniently places Ayala on its route.
Greenbelt area is very beautiful, a good place to be with friends, relax and enjoy the homey and very natural atmosphere. The place is packed with foreigners and Filipinos gathering with friends for chit chats and some nice meals. Well, this area sure is known for being one of the most expensive places to dine with your friends but of course you are also paying for the “exclusivity” feeling aside from the food and service. Greenbelt mall as I have read was also awarded in the past as being environmental friendly shopping mall because of its “close to nature” set up. I should say this place is A-1, world class shopping mall; that is why people enjoy coming to this place with their friends and family.
So far, there is no other place here in the city that can give the same effect on people when you are here.:)
In Makati you do not need to worry about traffic jams because everything you will need is just a stone’s throw away. You will therefore enjoy your trip and combining this with the lovely weather, Makati City is surely a place you will keep in mind.
