Parma, the Best Sight in Italy during Autumn

This weekend was quite possibly the best weekend to have gone to Parma. These past few weeks, I have been missing Canada for the first time, as I know that the warm colours of Autumn have settled in. And sadly, Bologna is severely lacking in trees. Luckily, I got my taste of Autumn when I went to Parma, only an hour away from Bologna.

The Parco Ducale is a large, beautiful park located close to the city center in Parma. Around every corner there is a new surprise... Ancient statues, vast ponds, and cute animals. The autumn colours of the park are stunning, and I would strongly suggest going to Parma at this time of year.

After the park, we ventured back to the center to visit the Duomo, the Battistero, and the San Giovanni Evangelista e Spezeiria. The Duomo was very unique for its paintings of statues. Sometimes, you had to look twice to see if a wall contained a statue or a painting. The San Giovanni Evangelista e Spezeiria was beautiful, but the beauty was difficult to appreciate because the church was very dark.

We visited several other sights including the Palazzo della Pilotta, the Camera di San Paolo, and the Madonna della Steccata. Parma felt like a very special city for its preservation of green space and uniqueness of the Duomo.
