Today we set of for Queenstown. We knew it would be a long day for us. We stopped for lunch in a town called Alexandra which was very nice. When we arrived in Queenstown we found our accomodation easily and settled in with the lovely view of the lake from our window and balcony.

As we had already booked for dinner and had to get ready, we didn't go far. I pre ordered a taxi to take us to the gondola. May did not want to go on the gondola but I told her that there were only 2 ways up to the restaurant. 1 was the gondola and the other was to walk. May begrudgingly went on to the gondola. We were early so we wandered around a little bit before getting paged to our table. We had a window seat and the view was lovely.

We had our meal and a couple of drinks and really just relaxed while we waited for midnight. There was a firework display on the shore of the lake and we planned to get the view from where we were. It was absoloutly freezing standing outside but that is the joys of being in a place like that.

After the fireworks we all headed for the gondolas. I phoned a taxi before getting in the queue to ride the gondolas down. We still had to wait a while for a taxi.

The outside noise wasn't too bad except for a few people getting a bit loud across the road from us. It stopped after the police car stopped there. Funny about that. All in all it was a great night.

Four of us spent New Year's Eve in NZ in 2007 - it was awesome in Auckland! Looks like you had a great time in Queenstown!

Handy to Queenstown city centre
These appartments are within easy walking distance to the city centre. We could see it from our balcony. Close enough to be handy but far enough away … read entire review
