The Castle in Celano
December 10, 2006
This is part of the village square in Celano. The castle is down the road to the left, just past a great pizza restaurant and an equally great coffee shop.
The castle is surrounded by a large wall, which you can climb and walk around. Every so often, there are small rooms with holes where arrows could be shot at invaders outside the wall. It even has a draw bridge at the main entrance.
The castle also contains a great museum with works of art, ancient clothing, artifacts, and writings of the area. There are also many interesting photographs from the area including some information about the draining of the lake by the Romans.
