The team waving the Flag!

Another sunday in the Maldives - wow reading myself wrote this feels like reading a blog from someone that lives in a god forsaken island! hahaha..I guess I'm just here too long without a different view.  Anyway, my boys were all cribbing about volleyball matches with other resorts.  Since, today I am a bit free from the humdrums of the office, I decided to take them myself to another resort.

The boat ride to go was 40 mins. I got irritated somehow that at some point I couldnt see any land in sight but the boys were up for anything.  Amir was playing drum and half of the boys were singing, believe me, I couldnt really understand the words and it sounded like I was in the middle of a busy kickboxing stadium however it was something that all of them was enjoying.

I just couldnt really sympathize more than I could show.  We reached Rhiveli, we were greeted warmly by the management of the resort, we even had fresh coconut water as welcome drinks! Wow...the resort was in a small island similar to ours but it has more vegetation than back in our island.  I was introduced to the Operations Manager - Francois - from the name you can make out..Yes - he is French. We chit chat for a while and sat next to each other during the match, which by the way was swearing his team in french loudly that I couldnt even hear the updates on scores - but I thank him for the hospitality he and his team extended to us.  Their players are really good I must admit, by heart I knew that we are going to lose, but we came to have fun and not to win or lose.
Me - trying to bribe the manager of the other team to let us win
Although - it would be great if we win.

The score was well - 3-0... You should figure out by now what is our score.. But believe it or not, the boys have bigger smiles than their players.  After that we sat for a tea/coffee break and went around the resort to check their facilities.  The boys were restless after the game, they are so playful and I thought its best to head back before they get out of hand.  As I entered the boat I counted all the heads that I could see...then waved goodbye to Francois and his team and we were off.  The 40 mins. trip back to our tiny piece of land was quiet.  No drums or that sort of activities. I knew that they were all satisfied or perhaps contented, it was like if you got what you want then you stay quiet for a while until you find something that you complain on....Looking at all of them peaceful and behaved in a way.. I smiled to myself and I thought a simple activity like this can really do wonders to these boys.  They work so hard and I beleive they deserve this.  Then, I realised its not just them - but it also made made wonders to me, seeing them happy and at best - quiet.... really made my day.
