Our two week trip to Alaska, by cruise line, railroad and plane.

Our 2009 big trip

For our big trip this year we decided to take a cruise.  Something we had never done before.  We got a very good deal on the cruise part of the trip and figured we have to suffer anyway on the flights to and from no matter where we decided to go.  Well, we picked Alaska for a few reasons.  We had never been there before, we had the chance to ride a modern train, and we may get to see the Aurora Borealis.  This all took place back in February.

The Cruise, on the Coral Princess, began on September 7th and was seven days, finishing in Whittier, Alaska.  On the way we would have stops in Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway.  And also we would get to see Glacier Bay and the College Fjords.

We also booked a land tour on the end of the cruise for five days, taking us to Talkeetna for one night, Denali National Park for two nights and end in Fairbanks for two nights.  We decided that we would add two more nights in Fairbanks in hopes of having a better chance of seeing the northern lights.

This blog will recount, mainly in pictures, what we saw and the things we did.
