I'll be glad when our winter arrives. The heat sucks!! My Sister and Niece came by and picked me up and we were off to Sea World in Orlando. It's a little over an hour away. We all have our annual passes...sweet!!
We arrived with no problems and we all wanted to ride Manta first. It's a great rollercoaster. You sit in the seat and the lock you in then it rolls forward on your stomach. you feel some great G's on this ride. I rode it once and my Sister and Niece got back on line and rode it again.
They have a $10.00 special for feeding the sting rays, seals, and sharks. You get on tray of smelt at each stop. On feeding the sting rays you lay the food flat in your had and place it into the water. The rays come by and suck it out of your hand.
The Dolphin Encounter is nice. Everyone used to be able to go up to the pool and get close to the dolphins. Now you have to pay $7.00 for a tray of food and only those people can get close to the dolphins. Everyone else got stuck at the end of the pool where the dolphins would not pay any attention to you. The best part is to see the underwater viewing area. Great views!! I believe it was mating season....lots of activity under the water.
The Florida Manatees - These animals you just want to run up to and give a big hug. Their faces are so cute.
The biggest show of them all is Shamu Believe!! You gotta get there early and wait in line to get into the stadium. It opens thirty minutes before the show. And you always have the people that think that they do not have to wait inline like everyone else and push and shove to get a seat. The stadium holds around three thousand people. Anyway back to the fun.....We got a great seat in the splash zone!!! And did we get wet!! It was a lot of fun and felt good getting hit with 52 degree water..ummm salt water. Your skin gets sticky when it drys. Or you can by a $20.00 shamu beach towel....lol. The show was great...Shamu pushed the trainer with his nose right up out of the water and the trainer did a swan dive of his nose.
It's time to ride another ride....KRAKKEN the rollercoaster which reaches speeds up to 65 miles per hour. It was a twenty minute wait for the ride, but we decided to ride in the front row. It turned into a fourty five minute wait because a young lady behind us had a heatstroke and passed out, woke up and vomited. They had to call EMS and wheelchair her out of line. I'm telling you the heat has been overwhelming!! We drank plenty of water all day long and took breaks into the airconditioning thru out the day. Towards the end of the day it rained for fiftenn minutes a couple of times and that cooled it off and made ot more enjoyable outside.
Wild Artic starts with a helicopter ride from Sea World to the Artic. You load the vehicle and put on your seatbelts and the ride begins. It a moving simulator ride sync to a movie. I had to close my eyes because I get motion sickness. My Niece loved it and she laughed the whole time. The doors open and your in the WILD ARTIC....The belugas are first. Swimming in a large indoor pool at 60 degrees. The lighting is low and you really do not get a good photo at all because of the low lighting. The best place to see belugas is at the Atlanta Aquarium. Next is the Walrus. What a huge animal and here too you can not get any good pictures because of the lighting. The Polar Bear was active this time and up close to the view window. Got some great shots!! Then it's down the ramp for the underwater viewing.
It turned out to be a great day and we all had some fun besides the intense hest of Florida. Remeber to bring your sun glasses, suntan lotion, hat, shirt, shorts, and sandals or flip flops.
