Travelling in Peru was just great. What a beautiful country. Some of the photos are made by my travelcompanions. For what I thank them! Not only for the photos, but for a great trip!

On our way to Cusco

View on Puno

We left Puno early in the morning. Passing Juliaca (we were told that this town has the highest airport in the world with one exception: La Paz in Bolivia). Last views on the ‘altiplano’.

We made a stop in Pucara. Here they produce the statues of the steers which you see above the entrance of farmhouses, or on roofs.

Had an early lunch in a touristic but very nice restaurant.

We reached Cusco about 2.30 pm. Hotel only a couple of minutes walking from the Plaza de Armas.

We were strolling the city centre, the Plaza de Armas was crowded because of a rally. Visited ‘La Catedral’ (the cathedral) and ‘Iglesia de la Compania’ (a Jesuit church). For both you have to pay an admission fee. Unfortunately it is not allowed to take pictures inside.

In my opinion both are worth visiting. Whether you like the style or not.

In the cathedral I especially liked an altar of solid silver (from Bolivia) and many paintings of the School of Cusco.

Hotel Ruinas, downtown Cusco
In Cusco we were staying in Hotel Ruinas (Ruinas Street 472, Cusco). The hotel is only a couple of minutes (walking), two blocks, away from the beautiful Plaza de Armas.

I was staying in room 101, a very large room with television and refrigerator. Large bathroom too. Room and bathroom a little old fashioned decorated. My room (an indoor room) was overlooking the reception…….. felt like the manager :-))

Breakfast (buffet style) is good. In the restaurant I only had a soup (which was very good).

As we left for the Sacred Valley and Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) we left our suitcases in the hotel (took only a backpack). After two nights we came back and I found my suitcase in the same (spacious) room!
